Mirai Nikki was one of those series that I felt tried too hard to be mysterious. While I definitely enjoyed it, I easily see that the ending was forced, and it didn’t appear to me that I would revisit the series anytime soon. However, the second opening was probably the best part about the second half of the show. Not only does this opening go through each of the players in this game, it also summarizes their character using these few seconds of screen time. At the same time, it still illustrates the ‘game’ aspect of the show, and it maintains its ‘creepy’ factor with the bizarre visuals and odd symbols, in addition to the unique colorization. All in all, the second opening really shines in the midst of a mediocre series.
