Shaft, one of the few studios that produces some rather questionable material. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is one of the most interesting shows I’ve watched, and this opening still continues to baffle me even to this day. While I’ve not read the manga, I do understand how complex the story was in the end, and how many little nods to the true meaning behind the manga and anime exist in each opening. From what I understand, many of the little symbols and crude depictions all make sense after the conclusion of this story, and one can really appreciate when there is so much work put into an opening that says so much, yet spoils so little.
One of these days, I may finally understand you SHAFT. One day…
