Shakugan no Shana was one of my introductory series to anime in general. While I started off with Kimi ga Nozomu Eien, and watched various series from there, Shana was one of the most fascinating series, as I had just been accustomed to slice of life and other romance type anime. After the first season, there was a bit of time before the second season aired, and I’ll tell you, it started off with a bang! Shakugan no Shana Second knew how to greet people into the show, and of course, Mami Kawada, one of my favorite artists, returns to give a show worth watching. The amount of emotion and excitement this opening brings is stunning, and I really think the impact of “We’re back!!” sticks in this opening.
Aside from the music, the animation greatly compliments the song, JOINT, and introduces all elements of the show forthcoming. Not only does the opening portray possible battles in the future, but also the love conflicts between Shana and Yoshida. Not to mention, if you didn’t already love the song, once you reach episode 21, that moment it plays is my absolute top moment in all three seasons. I love this song, and Shana has never failed in the music department.
